On Tuesday, February 16th 2010, and in partnership with Vodafone, AYB-SD launched its training, employment, and loans program in 8 other governorates - in addition to Cairo that the association is already working in - under the name of Qariaty.
Through Qariaty, AYB-SD is identifying 400 youth in different poor villages in Egypt in the period of 2 years to be trained and employed as salesmen at Vodafone agents in the following governorates: Fayoum, Dakhahlya, Monufya, Gharbia, Sharkeya, Qena, El Menya, Beny Suif. AYB-SD carries out the necessary social assessments, coaching, and screening interviews of poor youth to be employed by Vodafone agents. Once employed, AYB-SD provides training and on-the-job coaching for these poor youth to make sure they continue in their jobs and secure fixed monthly income.
Furthermore, AYB-SD offers loans to the selected candidates to buy motorcycles, which are used by youth to sell products around the villages in their governorates and thus increase their income and develop the economic standards of their families. AYB-SD is also training NGOs in different governorates to adopt the same training, employment, and loans model, and thus pass experience and empower them to adopt the same model and sustain it in the future. Special thanks to Vodafone Foundation that funded the project, and Vodafone Egypt for offering the employment opportunities. Special appreciation as well for Together Foundation and Homat Al Mostakbal Association for their great efforts in the implementation of Qariaty.
