Our story started in 2002 when volunteerism started to flourish and youth wanted to be more engaged in serving their communities. We dreamed to revolutionize Egypt to become a better place for the less fortunate by providing long term solutions for their problems through empowering them economically. Hundreds of students from different universities shared the same dream and started the first club at the American University in Cairo serving the area of Ein El-Seera.
More people began to join, and more student clubs began forming in other universities, feeling that they are adding value and can use their skills for a greater cause. As the team grew and as legal and political challenges faced their work, Dr. Raghda El-Ebrashi (founder) decided to legally register AYB-SD in 2005 to have a youth organized structure aimed at empowering each beneficiary to be their own savior by teaching them how to grow and sustain their growth.
As of 2005, AYB-SD began its learning process until it reached its first economic empowerment model in 2007, where various types of training were introduced, basing such services upon adaptation to market changes and industry researches and mapping. By 2009, we were not only empowering beneficiaries, but introducing labor rights to employers as well, having established our employment services to underprivileged communities during that time.
As the year 2010 began, AYB-SD started expanding its reach and replicated its model in eight new governorates (Fayoum, Sharkeya, Kharbeya, Monofeya, Dakahleya, Qena, Beni Souef and Luxor). This wide expansion made AYB-SD known as customized industries models providers of blue collar calibers.
As the years passed and our reach extended further, AYB-SD came to serve 17 governorates throughout its history, while the student clubs, which came to be known as franchises, grew to 12 franchises in universities all over Egypt. Furthermore, AYB-SD’s development model has become a well rounded socio-economic empowerment scheme, providing services aimed at all family members of underprivileged communities, with a focus on enabling each individual to find and utilize their potential to lead a better life and look forward to a bright future.
